We need to talk about K Pop Demon Hunters…
Is K Pop Demon Hunters the biggest craze for children, like literally ever??
Judging by the amount of requests we get here at Nutty’s Towers to do a themed party for it, I (Danny) think it is!
The super popular Netflix film follows the story of Huntr/x, an all-female K-pop group (Rumi, Mira and Zoey) who also double up as secret guardians of the world. Beyond the glamour and prestige of their lives on stage, these global superstars protect their fans from supernatural threats, squaring off against their villainous counterparts- Saja Boys.
So what is it about this film that captures kids’ imaginations so much?
Is it the cool/tough nature of the K Pop group? The crazy villainous demons? Probably.
But it’s also and, most importantly, about the music.
These catchy, feel good songs are being played in families’ houses around the world multiple times a day. Golden alone has had over 1 billion streams on Spotify. And when we run our Disco Parties, the kids sing along to this and other hits, like Takedown, word for word and know all the dance routines!
What’s also crazy is how many times some of the children we entertain have seen the film.
I often now say to the kids during my act for our Discos ‘I want to know how many times you’ve seen the film, so if you’ve seen it more than once, keep your hand up’. Nearly all the kids have their hand up. ‘Now, keep your hand up if you’ve seen it more than twice’ Hands still up. And so on.
The record for one child was 38!?? Absolutely mad.
Anyway, that is all. K Pop Demon Hunters- taking the world by storm, much at the behest of poor parents who have to listen to the album over and over…
